The Bollywood superstar has officially announced Son of Sardaar 2, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2012 action-comedy Son of Sardaar. Stepping once again into the shoes of the iconic Jassi, Devgn is ready to bring the laughs back to the big screen after a long run of intense roles.
The film, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, will hit cinemas on July 25, and Devgn took to Instagram to share the news with fans. Alongside a vibrant poster featuring him in a signature turbaned look, he wrote, “The Return of the Sardaar. #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July.”
This marks a refreshing shift for the actor, who’s been deeply involved in high-octane and serious projects like Singham Again, Shaitaan, Bholaa, and Maidaan. Son of Sardaar 2 promises to revive the light-hearted energy that fans have loved in his earlier comedies.
Joining Ajay Devgn in this new outing is actress Mrunal Thakur, who plays the female lead. The sequel does see a few casting changes. Actor Vijay Raaz, who played a memorable role in the first part, reportedly exited the project due to creative disagreements with the director. His place has been taken by Sanjay Mishra, who confirmed, “I did the film because I got a call from Ajay Devgn. One call from him and that’s all it takes.”
The supporting cast packs a punch too, with names like Sanjay Dutt, Sahil Mehta, Kubbra Sait, and Ravi Kishan joining the ensemble.
Presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, Son of Sardaar 2 is a collaboration between Devgn Films and SOS 2 Limited.
The countdown has begun – the Sardaar returns to rule hearts and tickle funny bones on July 25!
