The countdown to War 2 has begun, and the buzz is electric. With its August 14 release just around the corner, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer is already setting the box office stage on fire. Advance bookings have crossed ₹9 crore, and when blocked seats are added, the figure jumps to a whopping ₹17.29 crore — a strong sign that Independence Day weekend will open with a bang.
Advance Booking Surge
As per Sacnilk, War 2 has clocked an all-India advance booking gross of ₹9.04 crore. Add in the blocked seats, and the tally leaps to ₹17.29 crore — proof of the growing hype around YRF’s Spy Universe’s latest action spectacle. All eyes are now on whether Day 1 can smash past the ₹20 crore mark.
Format-Wise Earnings
The Hindi 2D version continues to dominate with ₹5.56 crore in advance sales. When premium formats like IMAX 2D, 4DX, and ICE are included, the Hindi total hits ₹6.18 crore.
The Telugu dubbed version has contributed around ₹3 crore, driven mostly by 2D shows, while the Tamil version lags behind with ₹9.34 lakh.
Regional Leaders
In the state-by-state race, Andhra Pradesh is out in front with ₹2.57 crore in advance and blocked sales, just edging out Telangana at ₹2.34 crore. Maharashtra follows with ₹2.34 crore, while Delhi and Karnataka stand at ₹2.03 crore and ₹1.04 crore, respectively.
Facing the 2019 Benchmark
While War 2 is off to a solid start, it faces the towering challenge of matching its predecessor’s monster opening. War (2019) had exploded with ₹53.35 crore on Day 1, pulled ₹166.25 crore in its first weekend, and went on to gross ₹318.01 crore lifetime. Whether War 2 can hit or surpass that benchmark will depend on its post-release momentum.
Coolie vs War 2 – The Clash
Meanwhile, the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is already flexing its box office muscle. It has notched up ₹24.59 crore in advance ticket sales, and with blocked seats, its total soars to ₹32.64 crore.
Despite the head-on clash, both films together have already lined up a ₹50 crore weekend just from advance sales — and there’s still a full day left for bookings to grow.
